P.E.

In P.E. we are focusing on adventure based learning. This involves the students learning to work as a team to complete games and activities. This week we worked on a team games, one called buddy up, this required students to work in pairs and follow instructions. Then Room 4 worked in teams of 9, they were given cards with numbers on them and had to get their whole team in numerical order without speaking. Finally students had to get their whole team from one cone to another without stepping outside of the hula hoops, this proved challenging as for one round they were unable to speak, and another they had to ensure they had a foot in each hoop otherwise they lost the hoop.

It was a great way to start the term and has shown how well we work together.

Senior Syndicate Fun

On Monday the Senior Syndicate came together to start the year off with some team bonding and fun.

The idea behind the activities to introduce students to the inquiry theme this year of Hauora, looking at the different aspects of health; physical (taha tinana), mental and emotional (taha hinengaro), social (taha whanau), and spiritual (taha wairua).

Students went around in the house groups to complete four different activities; the first being drawing a chalk outline and drawing or writing what makes them special and unique, next the students went on to complete a challenge of transferring water from one bucket to another, then the students had to complete a team challenge of picking up a cup with string in groups of four, finally the students made some fruit kebabs.

This was a great opportunity for Room 4 students to get to know the rest of the Seniors and learn to work together. It was an enjoyable way to start the year.
