We loved the song and singing it, check it out below to have a listen. What worship songs do you like or would you recommend we sing?

Wonderful Worship
Yesterday Rooms 2-4 went to the church to sing worship. We learnt a great new song that gets to the heart of our mission as Catholics. We are hoping to make this a more regular part of the week so students get the opportunity to worship God.

Mrs Tyro's Baptism
Today Mrs Tyro was baptised. It was such a special event and wonderful to see her welcomed into our church family. The students this week have been learning about what baptism is and the symbols for baptism. We also discussed the words that Father Bryan would use as he baptised Mrs Tyro. Check out the students blogs tomorrow to see their digital learning object (DLO) on baptism.

Responsible Choices
We did some learning yesterday about how to make responsible choices. This connected with our health learning this term. The students enjoyed acting out different scenarios and how they would respond to them.
What advice would you have for making good choices so we can have healthy relationships?

Fitness
In Room 4 we do fitness breaks twice a day to get our bodies moving so we can get our brains thinking. We often do shuttles to work on our cardio. We also do exercises like lunges, squats, basketball shots, star jumps, planks, burpees while we wait for our buddy to do their shuttles.
It is a great way to keep our bodies healthy by keeping fit. How do you like to keep healthy and fit?

Sizzling Shapes
This week for our STEM challenge we had to make a structure using triangles to make at least 4 tiers. It was quite a challenge but the children met it and were very inventive. It was so impressive to see them work as a team, trial their structures and problem solve when it wasn't working. The students are learning to work more as a team and becoming more creative and critical thinkers.
It is so great to see Ruma Rua and Whā work together each Friday. Check out the blog next week to see what challenge the students complete.
We would love to know what S.T.E.M challenges you've completed?

Prayers
This week Ruma Whā was on karakia for the school assembly. We had a focus on God's kingdom and being thankful to Him for all that he has provided. As Catholics it is important for us to follow in Jesus' footsteps to help bring God's kingdom to earth and this is what we prayed for this week.

Quizzical Characters
Today for writing we had a hot seat activity, the students all wrote a character they knew and put it into the container. Dakota picked out a character and had to answer questions as if she was that person. It was a lot of fun and students had to think of questions to find out information they wanted to know about the character and to discover who the character was. We did this to help us to describe our characters with increasing detail in our narratives.
What questions would you ask? What would you want to know about your favourite character?

Room 4 Baking
The students in Room 4 have been working hard and demonstrating our school virtues. As a reward we did some baking to acknowledge the effort they have put into their work. We also managed to do some teaching on fractions using cups and teaspoons as measurements.
Check out the photos below to see some of the baking in progress and the result.

Marvellous Museum Trip
On Monday 29th July Rooms 1 and 4 went to the museum. We were visiting the Arctic Voices exhibition, which taught the students all about adaptations of the animals and plants in the Arctic.
We had the lesson first, we were taking behind the scenes into a classroom and watched a video on different adaptations that animals had in the arctic. We learnt about biological and behavioural adaptations that life have in order to survive. We then got to explore the exhibition and take part in quizzes, crawled into tunnels (to get sneak peak at animals in their homes), see if we could jump as high or long as a arctic fox and rabbit and learn facts about life in the Arctic.
After this we then had to complete a sheet identifying three adaptations about an animal or plant we chose to read more about. We then got to create our own arctic animal or plant and decide on what adaptations it would have.
It was lunchtime and we enjoyed this in the Botanical Gardens. We played in the amazing trees, climbing and playing tag. We then completed a scavenger hunt in the museum looking at mummies, geodes, Chinese vases and Antarctic expeditions.
It was such a fun day and students enjoyed exploring our local museum and learning more about our world.
